But there are a few possibilities,
1- the 4 Torx bolts that hold it to the inner door have worked loose.
2- the three Torx bolts holding the motor to the regulator are loose.
3- two swivelling joins in mechanism good be worn/ damaged. No adjustment possible, as they are machine crimped on.
4- 3x plastic wheels for runners. Any of them could be damaged. No adjustment possible (without modifications).
Try do up any accessible nut and see if that helps?
If not, then it will likely need to come out?
Thanks Naki, I only saw this post this morning. I'll have another poke around inside the door when I get a chance but from whay you say and the photos you sent me (and thanks for those, too) I'll most likely have to replace it. When I was fiddling inside the door yesterday it felt like it was most likely numbers 3 and 4 of your list. Typical that it's the ones with no adjustment or repair possible (without mods)!
I seem to recall some talk or threads somewhere years ago - apparently not on this forum as my searches have yielded nothing - about a plastic clip or channel or something on the rear windows of 40s which holds the window steady when it's lowered, and that these can break if the door is closed too hard with the window lowered which renders the window useless and usually stuck open!
I thought that it might be that part wearing on my 300 - if it's the same design? - and letting the window rattle prior to catastrophic failure. Do you have any idea what that part may be?
Thanks again for the advice and pictures.
