I bought a new pair some 7 or 8 years ago when they were a little cheaper , still expensive by my reckoning but we used to get a discount if we joined the Jaguar allegiance scheme , i'm not sure whether it's still going as i haven't used them for some time , but , compared to some of the modern car headlight units with LED's and their associated electronics i think they are very reasonable .
Provided you are intending to keep a car for a few years i think they make a good investment , the brilliant sparkle of a new set is hard to describe as most of us have only ever seen 20 plus year old ones and i have never regretted buying them , i protect them these days with a pair of proper jaguar perspex covers as i couldn't bear to get a chip [ which is why i replaced the originals as one was chipped ] but here's a picture from the early days without covers ,
