Indeed not. More of a shock I suppose ? :(

Can you please explain what the unpleasant surprise is about this car?

It seems to be in cosmetically nice condition - obviously without seeing it in the flesh - and very rare as it's a manual, with all the usual rust spots repaired and a respray done as well. What's so wrong with this example?

I'm not in the market for one, just curious to learn more about XJ40s and what to look out for.

Regards
Aidan

That was not about the car, but the fact it is offered up for sale. Its seller/owner is a dyed-in-the-wool JaguarSport/XJR aficionado, who has spent blood, sweat and tears getting the car in its current condition...

Oh, I see. I didn't know that.
I agree then that it's a pity he has to sell it after putting all that effort into it.
Pity I'm not in the market.

For his sake, I hope he gets a good price for it.

Just had an email pop into my inbox about some nice looking Daimlers in an upcoming auction. All will require recommissioning by the looks of it but have the potential to be solid where it matters if they were stored indoors!

ETA: All V12 cars so I'm at risk of sticking a bid in myself. The K reg car is registered as a 5.3 interestingly - I wonder if this is an error or if there is a story to it as its registered quite early for a V12.

IIRC Rob Jenner was trying to get hold of this particular car at one time. He was a sucker for a V12, and for a majestic, and for an ex Jaguar cars reg!

It also has the very rare electrically adjustable rear seats! I’ve never actually seen one in the flesh with these!

So he must have wanted this one pretty badly!

Doesn’t look too bad in the photos.

That's a stunning collection, not just from the XJ40 point of interest!
Oh what it is to not be a millionaire when shown a collection like that :( .
