XJ40s in Germany

Postby Dazstap » Wed Nov 13, 2019 6:50 pm

Hello all,

One of the many things to come from last weekend was a chap from Auto Bild Klassik stopping by to have a chat to us about a Jaguar meet in Jork, Germany that takes place once a year. Having had a look for it, I see that there are a few posts about it.

He said that the magazine would be interested in doing a feature on our cars if we were to make the journey across. He knows Florian and was saying what a friendly show it is.

So would anyone be interested?

I've enjoyed Florian's hospitality more than once, and can't do much more than confirm that his gettogether is worth the effort!
The drives, the catering, the people: a single one of those reasons would be sufficient for us to attend again.

For those contemplating the Dover-Calais/Dunkirk route: our place is en route-ish to Northern Germany, I could either host a Dutch mini-meet here, or we could use my place to add some local '40s to the convoy... ;)
(and for the pessimists: use my home workshop/parts stash to fix whatever needs to be fixed  )

Oh Pim, you have just added an extra dimension to this mission now! I was planning Harwich to Hook of Holland, but your idea sounds fantastic!

What are the dates for this?

I could be tempted if the dates work...

Usually late April, last weekend of the month I seem to recall?

Guess we would need to check with Florian to see whether
A) he intends to organise a 2020 event in the first place, and
B) if so, what date(s) we need to be aware of...

Message sent to Florian for details of 2020 meet.

School holidays in Essex (not sure about elsewhere) are between 4th and 19th April. There is a bank holiday on Friday 8th May, or there is another school holiday during the last week of May.

If it could be during these dates it would be great as it would open it up to people bringing families for the weekend.

If it doesn't that is still fine, but may take a little more planning...
