Absolutely. All on excel and all searchable/modifiable. If I can make it to any southern events next year Steve, you’re more than welcome to have a look through it.

Paul - Maybe an idea for the future?

Excel spreadsheets can be exported into Access, creating a database ...database could be uploaded to the web and made into a data driven website ...

Hi Larry,

Access, not sure that I've heard of that? I think when the time comes I will summon the IT experts to help me, but good to know that things can be done which will accommodate the data. It would take me years to re-type all of the data I've amassed and still compiling.

Access is part of the pro version(?) of MS Office, it's one of Microsoft's database products.

If you have Access installed, it can take an excel spreadsheet and make it a (simple) database. Can be fun to play with as the original spreadsheet remains untouched.

Access also has the ability to switch an Access DB to a full blown SQL server DB ...however, that subject is way beyond my pay grade!

Databases are the main tools used for manipulating data ...think of the records in them like the chips in a tube of Pringles - where every chip is unique and no matter how you mix them up can be recalled into the tube just the way they were originally.

Just about all the apps on the web - Facebook, eBay, Amazon etc are database applications, albeit very sophisticated ones.

Data driven websites are fun to build (if you have the inclination :o ) and can usually deliver multiple web pages based on a single page of coding ...

yikes! I'd better stop there - this subject is a VERY deep pool!

The same Excel spreadsheet could be used with some nifty use of pivots tables, this should be able to function quite well. Not up to Statistically Query Language based DB "SQL" but sufficient for our needs. And before anyone asks, my answer is the same as that of Larry, I am just not quite what I once was.
