Access is part of the pro version(?) of MS Office, it's one of Microsoft's database products.
If you have Access installed, it can take an excel spreadsheet and make it a (simple) database. Can be fun to play with as the original spreadsheet remains untouched.
Access also has the ability to switch an Access DB to a full blown SQL server DB ...however, that subject is way beyond my pay grade!
Databases are the main tools used for manipulating data ...think of the records in them like the chips in a tube of Pringles - where every chip is unique and no matter how you mix them up can be recalled into the tube just the way they were originally.
Just about all the apps on the web - Facebook, eBay, Amazon etc are database applications, albeit very sophisticated ones.
Data driven websites are fun to build (if you have the inclination
) and can usually deliver multiple web pages based on a single page of coding ...
yikes! I'd better stop there - this subject is a VERY deep pool!
