Quick question, how do you get the chrome backing off a late wing mirror??

The chrome part is affixed with two plastic pins on the outboard side and a hidden clip on the inboard side. The idea is to prize the chrome part from the mirror part on the outboard side, thus releasing the pins and then slide the inboard chrome part away outwards to release the clip. You can see from the photos that I did not do it so well, but no matter this is the old one and I mounted the replacement after “investigating” the old one.
Hope this helps.
