Sill and wheel arch repair

Postby leo_denmark » Wed Sep 11, 2019 11:02 am

Hi

I have found repair panels for wheel arches, but nothing pops up for sill repairs. Please let me know if I have just not found them before I start fabricating my own repair panels for sill ends.

And yes, I know. I could just buy another car and scrap this one, but there are too much emotions involved, and it does drive a LOT better than it looks...

It’s the right move to pursue the repairs. Considering all the other work you have done.

The sill closing caps for the front sill ends are available.
XJ restorations/ SNGB do preformed lengths outer sill.
Between those two you should be able to execute repairs. All the hidden parts can be hard fabricated.

Let’s see some pics then? How bad have they progressed?

There is always this guy on eBay that do Jaguar repair panels, he'll be able to make up a will panel for you if needed.
Alternatively you could cut out middle section of a breaker, that's always fine, even on rust buckets.

I’ll just add not by me, but my ‘friendly’ local village garage and they didn’t charge me a fortune

Thanks all

@Naki: Great to hear that sill profile can be found. There will be photos when I started, but it is basically 4 x 10 inches of sill + ends, that needs attention, and when I start digging I’m sure I’ll find more. I have already poked a hole in the LH sill end, But it’s the rear ends I fear most as I have no idea how complicated the construction is.
I have done the floor edges a few years ago, so they should be ok.

@Chris: looks good !

@Pim: You will have a PM shortly. It would be stupid not to use your panel
