We just got the keys for our new place, which will take a megarestore to bring it up to 21st century spec.
A similar situation to yours, it seems: one outbuilding that will become dedicated workshop space, ample parts storage, plus dry storage for the car collection (and then some... )

Yes, I am so happy with it. The new house came with a ton of work, but the workshop is a major bonus!

To be honest, what you see is only half the workshop. And than I have three garageboxes...I feel lucky, but than again I spent years wrenching outside in parking lots and among cattle so I kinda felt I deserved it....

pfffffieuw. Blowing off a lot of dust.

So, I quit working on the jag over 4 years ago. In the meantime, we bougt our first house, which was a ruin and needed 3 years of working on it, next to our jobs. Also, we had two kids. And I started my own company. Oh, and I also bought a camper, which had been sitting for 30 years in a barn, but we just went on holiday with it the last 2 weeks

with al that sorted, I dug up the jaguar today! Our house came with a huge workshop, and what better way to fill that than with a lift. so the jaguar had to go move. But would it start?

And now its on a place where I can start working on it.

What do I need to do? the last thing I did was weld everything that was rusted, so I need to make all these welds smooth and straighten everything. Than paint, put the windows and interior back in and I can drive again. Should take no more than a couple of weeks right?

Great progress there, and a great place to work on cars.

So, it's been a while, but progress is great!

I painted the thing, with a roller, but honestly the result is really good. Especially when considering it's only a few degrees above freezing in the shed, and Paint doesn't flow that good when cold.

This is how it looked during painting:




Then I give it a treatment with Mike Sanders Fett. According to the internet, this is the best stuff to preserve hollow spaces, such as doors, sills and chassis.
you need to heat it up, than spray it everywhere.





Than I started putting the thing back together.

Mounted the windows:


fitted the headlights:


put some carpet inside:



cleaning seats


put rear seats back in, AND mounted 3 point seatbelts in the rear, for the kids. 3 belts in total


and started putting everything bak in, inside..



Keep on going this week, and get it on the road for the first time in 5 years!!!

Great progress! I thought this was one of those projects that had sadly been given up on, so good to see the car coming together again!

Keep updating the thread, would be great to see the car in different settings as you getting mileage under your belt again!

Well, I am no quitter. but honestly, this project has lasted too long.

next week, there could be lots of snow here, so not ideal. As soon as there is a day with reasonable weather, the jag will get back on the road. I only need to mount the doorhandles and fit the rear bumper so really just 1 or 2 nights of work left…

I am so excited to drive it again!

also made a nieuw piece of dashboard, as I didn't want any gauges anymore. only a big screen with speed and navigation in on.




When temperatures get above 0, I will make the first testdrive. I don't want to break down and freeze me ass of...

Made the first drive in 5 years!!!




However, I noticed the brakes were poor. To say the least... Turns out the front breaks were locked solid. I even hat to drill a hole in the cilinders, and thread these hole to then turn the cilinders out with a bolt. Oh, and the brake fluid in the calipers was more like a paste. More solid than liquid...

But whet all new seals and new cilinders, the brakes are fine again! Next drive to come shortly






Cilinders were very rotten...



But it all fresh now. And already back under the car and bled.
