X300 3.2 No low end torque

Postby Gabriel » Mon Sep 14, 2015 1:34 pm

Hi guys, my friend just bought a blue 3.2 executive X300. Once it gets above 4k rpm it takes off but It seems to be way down on power in the low part of the rev range.

I've been thinking that if the timing chain guides are all worn down, the cams could be off by quite a bit. Is there anything else that could cause such an effect?

Is the servicing all up to date? You haven't mentioned if the car has been in regular use or sat idle for years?

Its important to have access to a fault code reader for X300. This will likely point you in the right direction.
Many running issues are sensor related. It could be the air flow meter/ throttle sensor.

Is it the same with cold or hot engine?
is the idle speed normal at around 800rpm?
