Rob, I really like the XJR colour coded front grills.
Methinks it would suit the colour of mine.
Would it be easy to source a grill and puit the mesh in myself......there can`t be much to it or am I speaking out me arse.
If you think its sacralige.....R`ll get me coat!!!

Apparently that XJR is a low miler (40k) one owner jobbie.and was up for £4000.
I decide not to look to much at it cuz by head was spinning enough with the one I went to look at.

The guys dad (who I got the car of was a dealer) and had also advertised the XJ for £2500.
Surfice to say I did not pay anywhere near that, and his Dad was not very impressed with him.

Looks like a good buy, I really like the colour combo inside and out.

I tell you what though, now you are starting to be able to buy an X300 for XJ40 money, I am going to me forced to make a very tough decision when it comes time to make the call and part with my hard-earned...... watch this space ! :?

vey nice looking car Yam ;)

i think the XJR grill is a straight swap.....look on eBay, there's normally a few to choose from.

IMHO do what you like to your car...it is yours and should be to your taste, you can always do things that are easily reversible if you want to it standard when you come to sell.
i've seen many X300 models with XJR grills on them. :D

don't even tempt me on that low mileage R, all 300 XJR's have been used, and use alot 200K miles now is common place, people obviously enjoy driving them, my first manual one racked 121K in its first two years with the first owner, how he kept his licence I'll never know, or perhaps he didn't and thats why it got sold!!, my second one was 178K and still going strong in Finland even now, my current two are 136K and 120K

I know, base model 94 300's are at 400 quid now, essentially a late 40, possible a little better built, but they are starting to suffer reliabilty and rust issues, but choose carefully and you can find a good one, 40 rules apply, choose good colours and specs, Sports, Sovs, V12 and XJR, for me in the darker colours are always good value and easy to move on, Daimlers are always at a premium as per 40, bear in mind though they are not quite as diy friendly as XJ40, you do need JDS to clear faults and diagnose certain things, but ther are enough good indepenadants around the country who can deal with them at reasonable rates

For me, I like 300 especially the s/chargers, but I do have a real affinity for XJ40, it has been part of my life since the early 80's, it was in the house, or bits of it were in the design stages, it was really the car that got me into Jaguars, even though my first one was a S3 V12 on an E plate, I went to all of the launches, I have the packs and tie to this day given to me at launch, we had prototypes running by the house for year before launch, AND it was the car that saved the brand, many people forget that, long live the 40 I say
