Low beam doesnt work

Hi all on My 1988 XJ40 Sovereign with square square single head lights the low beam has stopped working high beam is fine and all the park and tail lights are also good I went to go to the shops the other night and found I had no dipped beam Ive checked fuses in the drivers side kick panel the passenger side kick panel the fuses in the console and the 2 sets of relays near the radiator I disconected both plugs from the lights and fitted H4s into them just to check it was globes or not high beam is fine low has nothing at all and passing flash of high is also fine does anyone know where to start according to the plastic decals headlights are 3 amps which doesnt seem right to me I reckon they should be around 40 to 50 amps any advice please let me know and also my Jag is right hand drive just like the UK

Had the same with my Sovereign years ago. In my case the fix was as simple as a replacement 3A fuse in the center console fusebox...

While you’re at it: you may want to check the fusebox itself for cracked solder connections, a known cause for many XJ40 electronics gremlins.

Since both are not working simultaneous, I would think it’s the lighting logic module (light switch on the Facia Panel).
Internally there are two switches. One for the dash/ console lighting, and the other fit the external lamps.
I have see a few of these failing in different ways recently. Either in the off or on position.

I have a spare if needed. PM me for details.

Thanks for the offer but you are a bit far away theres a Jag man here in Brisbane but hes always flat out and its hard to get an appointment with him thanks
