Re: Suspension rebuild/upgrade questions

I'll be able to give some input very soon (hopefully). My Daimler has GAZ adjustables all round, but I'm currently rebuilding the lot. Including having the dampers rebuilt by GAZ. Bushes are being upgraded to poly and new springs, spacers etc. The only polybushes I could get for the rear through we...

Re: Car and Classic Adverts

Apparently we no longer live in the shadows... Nice to see such a positive piece, based on facts instead of all those 'they're no good' hearsay anecdotes! Definitely. And to see someone loved their car enough to spend £50,000 restoring it! And nicer than a lot of the metal you can buy new for £50,0...

Suspension rebuild/upgrade questions

Evening all, I'm thinking of doing a full suspension rebuild on my Daimler. It's got the SLS which isn't really working so going to start with the rear. I kind of fancy going for something a bit lower and sportier but don't want to compramise the ride too much. Is there much difference in ride betwe...

Re: Rear suspension work

Lots of good tips there! Should be handy when I have a go at this later this year :D

What difference does the X308 monbrace make? Definitely a worthwhile upgrade?

Re: eBay motor bin.

That V12 went for 800 in the end. Potentially very cheap v12 for someone... Was tempted to have a bid myself but the potential running issues etc put me off

Re: Subframes

Powder coating does have a tendency to crack and peel off over time, especially under a car. I've used hammerite in the past and not found it very long lasting tbh, and that was with grinding everything down and using zinc primer. It didn't seem to want to 'stick' and so chipped easily. The best stu...

Re: Nicko McBrains XJ6

A truly unique car, that only a Rock Star can pull off really. What’s interesting is that the JLR workshops intake such extensive modifying of Classics. I think it’s good that they have publicised this. Otherwise it would be easy to assume they only restore to original spec using “only genuine part...

Re: Lower wishbone bushings

3-4 hours per side as said seems reasonable. I've been quoted about that to have mine done by an independant specialist in Rotherham. I'm pretty sure the steering racks needs dropping and the guy said to me sometimes the long bolt gets seized in which all obviously can add to the time to do the job....
